I have been shooting some small movies with my still camera, and I am thinking of getting a real video camera.  First, I am wondering is I need HD, or should I save some money and get a non-HD.  I am planning I putting my finished movies on a standard DVD, to give to friends/family to play on a TV – and maybe put them up on YouTube. Do I really need HD for this?

I recently purchased a new camcorder for our winter ski holiday

The JVC GZ-MS100EK

I like the flexibility of the SD Card camcorders, this one is smaller than I imagined and for the price its OK. The idea with these kind of gadgets is to buy one that is suitable for your needs. I am sick of spending a fortune on a device only for it to sit and gather dust.

Taking everything into account I would score this camcorder 6.5 / 10
